Defense and Security

In security policy, we must think long-term. We must work for the EU's strategic and defence independence. By removing the defence opt-out, we are helping to strengthen Europe, which is much needed!
The European democracies are on shaky ground as long as we cannot guarantee our own security. Developments in the US over the last few years have demonstrated that there is more focus on their internal problems. A strong Europe is not in opposition to a strong USA. Choosing Europe means Denmark's influence on how we can guarantee Europe's security for the future.
We choose Europe
We support Denmark guaranteeing 2% of GDP to invest in defence.
We must support our veterans, both financially and mentally.
Digital security must be strengthened, but surveillance is not freedom and citizens' rights must be safeguarded.
In Volt's election programme for the European Parliament elections, we have several wishes for the EU of the future
Europe should do everything possible to support Ukraine's sovereignty and ensure regime change in Russia. This is not a war between Russia and the West, but Putin and the West, writes Kathrine Richter.
By working together, we strengthen our overall capacity, save money and utilise our strengths most effectively!
Volt has defined 5+1 fundamental Challenges that need to be tackled in each European country and in Europe as a whole.
Why 5 + 1 Challenges?
The 5 Challenges are basically the same for every country, but their implementation can be adapted on the national level to take into account local realities.
The +1 Challenge – our proposal to reform and strengthen the EU – is identical across all our national programmes.
Education and digitalisation are key elements of the 21st century
An innovative economy must be the engine of society's progress
No-one should be left behind - no matter their gender, income, religion. or origin
Europe needs to assume responsibility for its role in global challenges
People must be empowered to influence politics beyond elections alone
We love the EU - this doesn't mean there is no room for improvement
