What are Volt's political goals?

Amid unprecedented crises we aim for realistic, social and sustainable solutions fit for the 21st century. With the support of millions of citizens across the EU, we are building a Europe that works for all of us, whoever we are, wherever we live, and whatever we do.

Our vision for Europe

Defense and Security
In defense and security policy, we must think long-term. In Volt, we believe that Denmark's future is in Europe, and therefore we must think European when planning our defence. We will work for the EU to achieve strategic independence in the defence area. We want our citizens to be able to influence the direction of our security policy through democratic processes, which is why we supported a YES vote in June 2022 when we were to vote on removing the defence opt-out. When we removed the defence opt-out, we took a firm step towards a strong and strategically important Europe. We must be able to count on our European security being a priority for all Europeans in the future, because European democracies are on shaky ground as long as we cannot provide for our own security. Developments in the US over the past several years have shown that there is more focus on their internal problems and a strong Europe is not in opposition to a strong US. Europe has worked hard to build a peaceful continent scarred by the experience of the world wars, and for the same reason we have worked hard to build democracy, and now we must also be able to defend ourselves against external threats.
The Future of Work
The future of the labour marked is a truly pan European labour market with more flexibility, serious work-life balance and with new possibilities of shifting careers and directions several times in one's life.
Agriculture and the Environment
We need to reform our agriculture to save our environment. Our environment needs to evolve and expand and we need a European perspective to achieve this. Reforming the CAP, respecting and abiding by Environmental laws, accepting criteria and safeguarding our food security.
Education for the Future
Health
We need stronger collaboration in healthcare across borders - better co-operation among researchers and doctors leads to better outcomes for patients and greater safety of care. It's time to strengthen the European healthcare system!
Volt's road to your ballot
Denmark has the highest threshold for getting on the ballot. Danish Parliament even passed a law to prevent Volt from running for the European Parliament in 2024 - here's the story and what you can do!

The 5+1 Challenges

Volt has defined 5+1 fundamental Challenges that need to be tackled in each European country and in Europe as a whole.

Why 5 + 1 Challenges?

The 5 Challenges are basically the same for every country, but their implementation can be adapted on the national level to take into account local realities.

The +1 Challenge – our proposal to reform and strengthen the EU – is identical across all our national programmes.
